New working paper: Assessing Satisfaction
"On a scale of 0 to 5, how satisfied were you with..." This new working paper looks at some of the issues that arise in research attempting to measure and define satisfaction using numerical scales. The paper draws on a project which used multiple research methods to explore parents' satisfaction with the care they received after discovering that their unborn baby had a serious abnormality. The paper is by Josephine Green (University of York) with with Helen Statham and Wendy Solomou (Centre for Family Research).

Who are you like? Photo competition and exhibition
Our Living Resemblances project is researching why and how likenesses to family and friends are important to people.
Who in your family has the same curly hair,
big nose or cheeky grin? Are two of your brothers the spitting image of each other? Are you all really sporty?
As part of the 2008 Festival of Social Science we are holding a photo competition and exhibition on the theme of likenesses.
Send us a photo and you could win up to £50 in vouchers and be part of our exhibition. Closing date: 11 February 2008. More details and how to enter.
