Social Network Analysis: A 'taster'

Workshop summary
This workshop will offer a very basic introduction to social network analysis.
Morning session: 10-12am (Room 3.5, Roscoe Building)
This session is led by Prof Nick Crossley, who will introduce the basic ideas behind social network analysis, outline some key concepts and briefly discuss key studies and findings.
Afternoon session: 1-3pm (Room 3.59 Computer suite, Williamson Building)
This session is run by Dr Gindo Tampubolon, who will introduce the Pajek software package, give participants a ‘hands on’ opportunity to try out network analysis using this free-to-download software, and demonstrate certain more advanced visualisation possibilities.

This workshop has been organised as part of the ‘Social Capital and Consumption: Promoting Social Network Analysis’ project, funded by the ESRC and run by Mike Savage, John Scott, Alan Warde, Gindo Tampubolon and Nick Crossley. It is organised in conjunction with the Real Life Methods node of the National Centre for Research Methods and the BSA Social Network Analysis Group (SNAG).
